So, you’ve chosen your squad, the girls (or boys) that you want by your side on your big day but what’s the bridesmaids etiquette nowadays? Is having a maid of honour still a thing? Do I pay for everything? How many should I have?

Fear not, as we’re here to help answer those questions!
Our next couple of blogs will cover some of the things we’ve learnt over the years on the do’s and don’ts of bridesmaids. This isn’t just from a professional point of view but also from our personal experience, with 7 dresses under our belt, we know a thing or two when it comes to the kind of thing!

Can I have too many?

Professionally we’d say yes, but this is easier said than done and it has to be a decision you make with your heart over your head! The best advice we can give is to make sure that you’re 100% sure before you ask. Take your time to think about it, these girls (or boys) are going to be your support system throughout the whole wedding planning process.

One of the things we do try to encourage, is having an equal amount of bridesmaids to groomsmen, this is a personal preference though but in general, it works better for photos and for the bridal procession.

*Disclaimer – flower girls and page boys are an “each to their own” kind of thing. If you do decide to bring little people into the equation maybe think about having a 5 and over policy*

Maid of Honour..yes or no??

Simply…yes! In our professional experience a maid of honour is really important. The reason we say this is because they are your second in command, your number two, having a maid (or man) of honour means that you don’t have to worry about things getting done and they are also there to keep the other bridesmaids in check!

The Maid of Honour should be seen as your personal fixer, to make sure that you are on point all day, no creases in you outfit and not one hair on your head out of place!

We’re going to leave it there for now but we really hope this intro into the do’s and don’ts of bridesmaids has been helpful! We’ve got a few more hints and tips to come but in the meantime head over to our wedding packages page to see where else we can save you stress and make sure your big day is beyond perfect.
